Strategy
Evil Comedy began as a throwaway name – a gut instinct from Alice Viskat that we quickly recognised as something more. It had clarity, attitude, and a strong sense of identity. At the first event, the name was loosely hand-painted across the stage – an unpolished gesture that would go on to define the brand. This handmade origin became the foundation of the visual identity. A traditional signwriter-style typeface nods to Cape vernacular lettering – the kind found in the everyday environments where many of the city’s best comics come from. Paired with a punk-inspired poster treatment, the result is a system that feels immediate, flexible, and unmistakably real – just like the comedy it represents.
